eNOS Gene Variants in Recurrent Miscarriage

A case-control molecular study assessing six endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) polymorphisms and their haplotypes in unexplained recurrent miscarriage.

This study genotyped six eNOS polymorphisms in 200 North Indian women with unexplained recurrent miscarriage and 300 fertile controls. Three variants—12862A>G, Glu298Asp, and intron 4 VNTR (aa genotype)—significantly increased miscarriage risk. Haplotype analysis identified two protective and one high-risk haplotype, suggesting that altered nitric oxide–related vascular regulation contributes to pregnancy loss susceptibility.
